For many years, Human-computer interaction research has focused on ‘nudging’ people to encourage more sustainable behaviour. Sustainability however is an issue that needs addressing on collective and policy levels. In this talk, I will present our work on supporting emerging energy communities to collaborate and coordinate around their use of local, renewable power.
Georgia Panagiotidou is a Lecturer in the Department of Informatics at King’s College London specialising on how people interact with data within interdisciplinary topics such as sustainability. Currently her focus is on topics of sustainable HCI and energy communication especially as they relate to collective action. Before returning to academia, Georgia worked in the field of data design and journalism as part of news media as well as part of multiple NGOs where her visualisations had extensive audience and impact.
