Education is often one of the options given for responding to the climate and nature crises. But are existing pedagogies and educational approaches fit for a profoundly complex world where we can only see the bigger picture by looking at it through multiple lenses? This talk reports on the first year launch of a new interdisciplinary undergraduate module at City St George’s on sustainability and climate change. Come along to find out how the module was (co)designed and the impact that doing things differently has had, both on staff and on students.
Dom Pates is a Senior Educational Technologist at City St George’s, where he manages the digital education relationship with three schools – Bayes Business School, The City Law School and the School of Science & Technology. Specialising in learning design, uses of multimedia in teaching and the development of learning spaces, he has more recently started working in immersive learning and sustainability education. Dom is also the founder of a new interdisciplinary module at the university on sustainability and climate change.
